Aldeburgh

We are having a week’s holiday in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
Though I was brought up in Norfolk I don’t know Suffolk well at all so it’s a bit of an adventure.
It is so good to get away and spend some time by the sea. The weather is on the chilly side for August and those black clouds keep rolling over but never mind.
We walked to Thorpeness and back today. Thorpeness was built as a private holiday village and contains such oddities as the very tall building, the House in the Clouds.
We had lunch in the garden of the Dolphin, crayfish and rocket sandwich, very nice. Many families were there, well dressed children playing pétanque , not something you see every day!
Back in Aldeburgh we bought some skate wings for tea and beat the showers back to our accommodation , which is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. It’s decorated beautifully and is quite a home from home. It even has an Aldeburgh version of Monopoly!
