Liverpool Cathedral

We did the tourist thing at the Anglican Cathedral on Friday morning, an enormous red brick edifice 5 minutes walk away.

There is so much to see inside, various chapels, a memorial to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster, the organist practising suspended on a balcony.

So many interesting details too, like the small metal statues lined up along the high altar rail; all women.

This morning I attended Choral Eucharist, a peaceful and beautiful service which had elements of religious theatre combined with personal touches.

Some clergy wore mustard capes with rust stoles (I’m probably using the wrong terminology but as a Quaker attender I’m out of the loop), which were very striking.
