Metropolitan Cathedral

Or to use its full title, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King Liverpool. We had to delay our visit here as a local school was holding its end of term service here. A very helpful guide turned us away saying “worship and tourism don’t mix ” in the nicest possible way, so we returned later.

It’s circular and full of light and coloured stained glass with chapel areas and a magnificent crypt. Another very helpful guide showed us around the crypt and told us all about it. So interesting that it was built for quite a different building which was cancelled by the trauma of the Second World War.
